Peripheral Edgework
Add Stunning Edge Profiles
When frameless mirror and glass is required, D&W adds the finishing touch of peripheral edgework. D&W can produce many of the industry standard edge types for any ascetic need or functional requirement.
Using both standard and CNC technology, D&W can add the finishing touch to both straight edge and shaped parts.
Choose your edge type…
Swiped Edge (Seamed Edge) : A clean cut piece that has had the sharp edges wet sanded down for handling safety. The edges have slight arris (chamfer or small bevel) that is frosted or cloudy in appearance.
Both Clean Cut (raw, untouched edges) and Swiped Edges are commonly used by art framers, OEM’s, glass fabricators and any applications where the peripheral edges are not exposed.
Polished Edge (Pencil or Flat Grind) : This type of edge work has a curvature to it with a matte, frosted appearance on the peripheral edge.
This type of edge work is typically left unframed for frameless mirrors, lighting, refrigeration or applications where a finished edge profile is preferred without adding a high polish.
High Polished Edge (Pencil Polish) : This type of edge work has a curvature to it and appears optically clear. This is a very high quality edge that adds a diamond like brilliance to the edges.
Commonly used in frameless mirrors, glass shelves, furniture or any application where peripheral edge is a focal point of the glass.
Flat Polished Edge : This type of edge work is optically clear and adds a diamond like brilliance to the edges. The edge work, like the name implies, is flat while the edges have an arris (very small bevel) that is also polished. Also available in a matte, ground finish (Flat Grind).
Similar applications as a High Polish but especially where mirror or glass edges are butting up to each other to create a pristine, symmetrical seam.
Bevel : This type of edge work has a polished top side where the material has been removed to create an angle (or chamfer) and the exterior edge is polished. This is the most common type of edge work for a frameless mirror. D&W is capable of straight and curved bevels.
